3. Lesson bookings and cancellations:
If you need to cancel or rearrange your lesson at least 24 hours’ notice is required. Failure to give the required notice will result in the lesson being chargeable in full.
Your instructor reserves the right to cancel or terminate a lesson if it is suspected that the pupil may be unfit to drive due to the effects of alcohol, drugs (prescription or otherwise) or any medical condition affecting your ability to drive safely and legally. In such circumstances the lesson will be payable in full.
The minimum lesson duration is one hour. If for any reason the instructor is going to be late for your lesson they will endeavour to inform you at the earliest opportunity. If the instructor is late for your lesson missed time will be either credited to the end of the lesson where possible or added to the next lesson. If the pupil is late for their lesson the lesson will still finish at the planned time.
4. Training location:
All lessons will start and finish at the same location unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance. The instructor will determine a location for practical lessons thought to be in the pupil and the publics best interests, this means that the instructor may need to drive the pupil to and from the lesson location initially, this journey time forms part of the paid lesson.
5. Training vehicles:
Training vehicles provided by the school are taxed and fully insured for driving tuition. The vehicle will be fully roadworthy and fitted with dual controls.
6. Practical driving tests:
Your instructor reserves the right to refuse use of a driving school vehicle for test if he/she considers that provision of a vehicle could cause a risk to public safety.
Where a school car is used for test, the booking period will be based upon the instructor’s normal diary schedule. Depending on the time of the test this will require a minimum two-hour booking.
While your instructor will make every effort to ensure that the vehicle supplied for test will be fully roadworthy and comply with all legal requirements at the start of the test, he/she cannot be held responsible for vehicle failure that occurs during the test and is not liable for consequential loss.
Your instructor cannot be held responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DVSA due to bad weather, sickness, staff shortages or other reasons. Such cancellations are beyond the control of your instructor. Your instructor will advise about claiming compensation from the DVSA.
It is your responsibility as the candidate to ensure that you bring with you to the practical driving test your provisional driving licence (photocard ID). The lesson fee and ‘use of car’ fee for the booked period will be charged if this is not presented for test and the test subsequently doesn’t take place.
